My daughter, Sayla, is three years old. I didn’t know if she would sit through (let alone enjoy) If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, our 2011 outreach program for elementary schools. She came and saw it and is now completely enamored by this fun story. She talks about the mouse, quotes lines, makes me read the actual story over and over remembering details from the play. It is really cute because she always refers to the Mouse in the story as me; “There you are! You are making a mess! You are eating the cookie!”. I have been delighted as we have moved into the schools this past Friday that the students are equally entertained. They say the real test of a good show is a young crowd engaged throughout the play… I think this one has it nailed!
Opening night was very fun. We all sat back stage with either excitement or butterflies (or both) in our stomachs as we waited for the audience to come in. There is just something magical about finally having an audience. And before we knew it, it was time for the curtain call and the play was over! Way to go yellow cast and I’m looking forward to another opening night with blue cast on Monday!
